home Learning
Home learning is important to us at Birkbeck Primary school because we understand the crucial role adults at home can play in developing a love and appreciation for learning and in helping children to consolidate learning from the classroom.
We also know that family time is precious and as a school that views itself as at the heart of the community and with the community at heart, we avoid overloading children and families with home learning.
We do expect children to learn their weekly spellings ready for their dictation test the following week and these are posted on Google classroom every week. Instructions on how to access Google classroom, along with an instructional video can be found by clicking on the Google classroom tab.
We also expect children to read at home every night for at least 10 minutes and for parents and carers to record this in their reading record books. Finally, we ask that children use timestables rockstars every week for 10-15 minutes to work on their timestables.
Children in Reception and Key stage 1 can also access Read Write inc resources from home. Click on the tab to the right of this page to find out about how to do this and find some helpful instructional videos.
Remote learning
Remote learning is something that we all had to get used to during the Covid-19 pandemic and while nobody wants to return to those days, there are times when remote learning may be useful and we will always aim to deliver the very best standard of provision at these times. Click on the tab to the right of this page to find out about, and read, our remote learning policy.
